Bacon Eating Contest

Do you love bacon? Here's your chance to prove it! Enter the Smithfield Bacon-Eating Contest and we guarantee you won't walk away hungry. Free bacon for a year, bragging rights and a winner certificate. Are you in? Contest is anticipated to begin about 2:00 pm at the Amphitheater Stage. 

Entry Information
  • 100 Entry Forms are available for those interested in participating. Contestants may sign up at either of the two Merchandise/Shirt booths at the event.  One entry per person. Deadline time to sign up is 12:45 pm.
  • All contestants selected (The Eaters) must sign a contest release waiver prior to contest starting. 
Eating Contest Process/Rules
  • The Smithfield bacon-eating contest is limited to ten (10) contestants who will be selected from all of the entries by the sole and exclusive discretion of event representatives.

Approximately about 1:15 pm selected participants will receive a text message with the following instructions:

         A) Reply back with a text WITH YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME to confirm your participation within 10 minutes.  If you do not reply back within the 10-minute timeframe you will be disqualified, and another contestant will be selected.

         B) Report to the Amphitheater Stage by 1:30 to sign waiver and prepare for contest. In the event any of the 10 participants that confirmed via text that they were participating, do not show up at the stage by 1:45, the Emcee will select random willing individual from the audience. Contest is anticipated to start about 2:00 at the Amphitheater Stage. 


  • Eaters will be allowed to drink water as needed while competing.
  • Eaters will receive a pre-weighed half-pound of cooked crispy bacon.
  • Eaters will compete until one contestant finishes completely consuming the pre-weighed bacon, meaning all bacon has been swallowed and mouth is clear.  
  • Throwing up during the contest will result in disqualification from the contest.
  • Eaters must remain seated upon conclusion until a judge has declared a winner.  Throwing up prior to a winner being declared will result in disqualification.
  • Once declared the winner may stand up.  Throwing up after declaration is not cause for disqualification.
  • Contestants will not be allowed to wear headphones.
  • The eater who finishes his or her bacon first will be declared the winner.
  • The winner will be announced directly following the eating contest on stage.
