ASSISTANT FESTIVAL COORDINATOR CONSULTANT Smithfield VA Events, Smithfield VA
Position Description: Seeking a full-time contracted Assistant Festival Coordinator Consultant that is an experienced, self-motivated professional with the ability to manage administration and logistics in support of activities, office administration and fundraising events of Smithfield VA Events (SVAE), a non-profit organization located in Smithfield Virginia.
It is the mission of the Smithfield VA Events to bring well organized, first-class events to the Town of Smithfield and in doing so, support local non-profits, charities, civic groups and strengthen our community by benefiting tourism and local business.
Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines without supervision. Must be willing to work random and sporadic hours based on needs of the events.
Annual festival weekends are as follows: January: Martin Luther King Weekend April: 2nd weekend in April, unless Easter, then it is the 3rd weekend. October: 1st weekend in October
The Assistant Festival Coordinator Consultant should have a love for special event management, provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build good relationships with Board Members, Community Leaders, Volunteers, Sponsors and Vendors.
Position performs as a consultant on all aspects of events and reports to the Festival Director. Upon request also prepares reports, recommendations and works with the Board of Directors, Committee Chairs and Volunteers. Is responsible for providing follow up evaluation information for future planning.
Qualifications: Education & Experience: Demonstrated experience in special events planning & execution, customer service and self-guided independent work required. Bachelor’s degree/Higher Education is preferred, but not required.
Supplemental Information: CONTRACT SUMMARY: Annual Salary of $38,800. This is a contracted 1099 (12-month) professional full time position for the 12-month period of July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020. Contract has potential to be renewed annually. Work schedule is self-determined by consultant, but will need to meet the demands of the events production and execution. Position will work a minimum of 120 hours monthly. Extra time, including back-to-back days, evenings and weekends, is required at strategic planning times throughout the year and during the weeks both pre/post each festival.
